Professor Niklas Lorén 
Biography
Niklas received a MS in Chemical Engineering with Physics in 1996 at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden. He then received a PhD in Bioscience at Chalmers University of Technology and The Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology in 2001. Currently, he is employed as a researcher at Product Design and Perception at Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) in the Bioscience and Materials division. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Eva Olsson Group, Department of Physics, Chalmers University of Technology.

Research Interests
  • Structure-property relationships in foods and soft materials
  • Quantitative techniques to determine local mass transport properties in soft materials using confocal laser scanning microscopy
  • Imaging of water containing soft materials using electron microscopy
  • Determination of spatial salt distribution using SEM-EDX
  • 3D imaging, image analysis and virtual design of soft materials
